Ole could get a January transfer budget

Manchester United are prepared to back Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the January transfer window, according to reports.

The Norwegian replaced Jose Mourinho last December, initially as interim manager, but did not make a single acquisition during the winter transfer window.

Solskjaer then landed three new signings over the summer – Daniel James, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Harry Maguire.

However, with the club down in a dismal 12th position ahead of this weekend’s clash with Liverpool at Old Trafford, it appears the board are prepared to back the manager at the turn of the year when the transfer window opens.

ESPN are reporting that sources have informed them that the Manchester United hierarchy will back the manager in January, but will not pay over the price for players in a desperate attempt to save our season.

It has proven to be a tough start to the 2019-20 Premier League campaign for Ole, following the notable departures of Ander Herrera, Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez, whilst the first team have been hit with a large number of injuries.

A number of exciting players have already been linked to the club, including Barcelona’s Ivan Rakitic, Leicester City playmaker James Maddison, West Ham United holding midfielder Declan Rice, Bournemouth goalscorer Callum Wilson and Lyon forward Moussa Dembele.

All of these players could be considered an upgrade given that we are really struggling in the middle of the park.
