Manchester United have welcomed two 2018 World Cup participants for our latest training sessions in the United States.
Spain goalkeeper David de Gea has joined up with the squad following his country’s second round elimination against hosts Russia earlier this month, whilst new signing Fred has met his new teammates for the first time, during Thursday’s session.
The pair flew into Los Angeles after taking short holidays following their participation in Eastern Europe this summer.
Brazilian international Fred trained away from the rest of the team as part of his pre-season programme. It was also confirmed that the arrival from Shakhtar Donetsk will wear the number 17 shirt this season.
De Gea was involved in some light fitness work with our goalkeeping coaches.
Neither player will feature in tomorrow’s friendly against Liverpool at the 107,601 capacity Michigan Stadium. We finish our pre-season tour of the United States against Real Madrid at the Hard Rock Stadium in Florida on Tuesday 31 July.
It has not yet been confirmed whether either David de Gea or Fred will be available for our 2018-19 Premier League season opener against Leicester City on Friday 10 August at Old Trafford.
