Paul Pogba missed Manchester United’s 2-1 win over Liverpool on Saturday after picking up a cut in training on Friday.
The French star wasn’t pictured in training during our Monday morning session either leading to speculation that he would also miss our Champions League second round second leg tie versus Sevilla on Tuesday.
We host the La Liga outfit after drawing 0-0 in Spain three weeks ago with a quarter-final place at stake.
Pogba has been an important player for us this season though did miss a couple of games in February. However, his influence on the pitch could be an important factor if we’re to safely progress to the last eight.
Whether the box-to-box midfielder will face Sevilla remains in question as Jose Mourinho himself wasn’t sure when speaking to the media at his pre-match press conference on Monday. However, he was able to confirm that Pogba returned to training this afternoon.
The boss told MUTV:
“He did [train] after you left,” Jose told the press, before the boss was then asked if Pogba could face Sevilla. “I don’t know. We don’t know yet, but he trained a little bit after you left.”
Our only confirmed absentee in midfield is Ander Herrera. However, Scott McTominay has filled in very well alongside Nemanja Matic in place of the Spaniard. Should Paul Pogba be fit for Tuesday’s game then he would be expected to play a more attacking role.
